A TEAM of police officers who tackled a mentally ill man while he was on a “rampage” are to be recognised for their bravery.

Sgt David Wells and Pcs Gary Barnes, Michael Craggs, Aimee Crawford and Norman Jubb, who are all based in Peterlee, were sent to find him after concerns were raised following a disturbance in an East Durham village.

He was found and later detained under the Mental Health Act.

The officers will be recognised at the Police Bravery Awards on Thursday.
