Boxer in court over alleged assault charge

A RISING boxing star is set to appear in court today over an alleged attack on a woman.

Declan Fusco, 22, has been charged with stalking and two counts of common assault.

He appeared before Peterlee magistrates last week where he denied the charge. He was remanded in custody, and will appear for a videolink hearing today.

South Durham ABC fighter Fusco, who dreams of competing in the Commonwealth Games, is charged with stalking between February 1 and May 12, and is accused of committing the assaults on the same woman on March 23 and May 5.

Former East Durham College student Fusco, of Rydal Crescent, Peterlee, is a rising star in boxing circles.

and high hopes have been pinned on his achievements by coaches.
