Birds taken in theft from Sunderland allotments

BIRDS have been stolen from a Sunderland allotment.

The theft happened after allotments in Silksworth Lane, Plains Farm, were broken into overnight between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

A number of sheds, greenhouses and bird houses were broken into on the plot.

A number of cockatiels were taken in the theft.

Newborn chicks were left, however, they have now died.

Officers from Northumbria Police are carrying out inquiries into the incident.
