A BENEFITS cheat swindled £37,000 while working.

Carole Hall pleaded guilty to six charges of failing to notify the authorities of a change in circumstances.

Newcastle Crown Court heard yesterday how the 53-year-old of Rose Crescent, Houghton, continued to claim benefits while she was working between October 2009 and July last year.

Judge John Milford asked the probaton service to prepare pre-sentence reports about Hall.

She will be back at the court to be sentenced on the week beginning September 15.

Judge Milford said: “Please co-operate with probation service in the preparation of your pre-sentence report.

“You may have bail, but that is no indication of what the final outcome may be.”
