Attacks leave girls injured

A SCHOOLGIRL was bitten on the face by a dog as she played on her scooter.

The 10-year-old was in a lane between Woodlea School and School Terrace in Fence Houses when the black and white Jack Russell attacked as she played with a friend.

Police are trying to trace the man, described by police as being of mixed race, who was walking the pet.

The attack happened at 5pm on Monday, July 29.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pc Lynda Richardson or PCSO Rachel Haddon at Chester-le-Street Police Station.

In a separate attack, a 17-year-old girl was attacked as she walked her dog with her 16-year-old friend.

The victim was approached by two men walking their dog in St Giles Close, Gilesgate, Durham, at about 8.20pm on Wednesday when a row broke out.

Her 46-year-old dad turned up in response to his daughter’s call for help, and he too was attacked.

Neither were left badly injured.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of assault.
