Residents were left shocked after a number of fireworks were pushed through a letter box of a home in Sunderland.
Police are treating the incident – in which fireworks were set a light and out throught the door of the property in Garfield Street, Pallion – as arson.
Emergency services were called to the house at 10.15pm on Wednesday.
Minor damage was caused, however, nobody was injured.
Extra police patrols are in the area to carry out enquiries and offer reassurance to concerned members of the public.
Two men, aged 27 and 25, and a 26-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody.
