Arson attack on Sunderland house

POLICE have launched an inquiry after an arson at a house in Sunderland.

The fire brigade was called to a fire at an empty property in Somerset Street, at 2.44am, on Sunday.

They put out the blaze which investigators say is believed to have been started maliciously. No one was inside the house.

Police say a number of people were seen in the street near to the house before the fire started and are appealing for these individuals, and for anyone with information, to speak to officers.
