FOUR people have been arrested in connection with an investigation into house burglaries in a co-ordinated strike by two police forces.

Durham Constabulary and Northumbria Police made the arrests yesterday morning as part of Durham’s Operation Relentless campaign – a long-running intelligence-led investigation into crimes in Durham City.

Two men, aged 49 and 50, were arrested in the Sherburn Road and Gilesgate area of Durham and a 36-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man in the Fence Houses area of Sunderland.

They were held at police stations in Peterlee and Washington on suspicion of conspiring to commit house burglaries.
