Arrest after reports man threatened a woman while holding a wrench in domestic incident in Sunderland

A man has been arrested on suspicion of threatening his former partner while holding a wrench during a domestic incident in Sunderland.

Officers were called to a disturbance at a property on Mowbray Road at around 8pm on Wednesday, July 15, following reports that a man was in possession of a wrench and making threats towards his ex-partner.

No one was injured and police later found the male suspect at the city’s Park Lane interchange where he was arrested. The man remains in police custody at this time.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Shortly before 8pm yesterday (Wednesday) we received a report of a domestic-related disturbance in the Mowbray Road area of Sunderland.

“It was reported that the victim’s ex-partner was making threats towards her and was in possession of a wrench.

“Officers were deployed to the scene and later located a male suspect at the Park Lane Interchange.

"He was subsequently arrested and remains in police custody at this time. Nobody was injured.”
