A house and communal garage have been damaged in a suspected arson attack on a shed.
The structure was set on fire between 5am and 7.30am today in Brunswick Road, Town End Farm.
Northumbria Police confirmed that the blaze spread to the house and communal garages, causing substantial damage.
No one was inside the property at the time, and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by officers, but initial enquiries suggest it was started deliberately. The fire is being treated as arson.
