Appeal after man stabbed in street row

DETECTIVES are hunting an attacker who stabbed a man in a street.

The victim was taken to hospital after the assault in the early hours of Saturday morning in Red House, Sunderland.

The 44-year-old man was left with a wound to his thigh after the attack, which took place in Ravenna Road at about 1am.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where he was released after treatment for his injuries.

His attacker made off and is now being hunted by police.

People living in the street said the injured man had been walking past a house when trouble flared and it believed there was a confrontation.

Officers have been making inquiries in the area and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
