Appeal after man injured in street attack

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a man needed hospital treatment following a street attack.

Police said the 55-year-old victim was taken to the Sunderland Eye Infirmary after a disturbance outside Thandis newsagents’ on Front Street in Shotton Colliery, just after 5.50pm last Friday.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and after being questioned was released on police bail pending further inquiries.
