Police have launched an appeal for information after thieves stole a car during a smash and grab raid at an East Boldon home.

Thieves smashed the porch window of the property on Station Road, East Boldon, before stealing keys from the back of the door.

They then drove off in a VW Golf - which also contained sunglasses and a sat nav -belonging to the occupants of the house

The offence took place between 8.30pm and 8.35pm on Wednesday, September 3.

Inquiries into the burglary are ongoing and police are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of the car should also come forward.
