Appeal after boy hurt in hit-and-run accident

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy riding a bicycle was injured in a collision with a vehicle which failed to stop.

The collision happened at about 5.30pm on Friday, August 15, on Conishead Terrace in South Hetton.

It is believed that the vehicle, described as a burgundy people carrier sized car and possibly a Nissan Qashqai, struck the back wheel of the bicycle causing the young cyclist to fall off.

The teenager sustained a broken elbow and required surgery following the accident.
