Alfa Romeo car abandoned after crash in Sunderland's Keir Hardie Way

Police have appealed for help after a car was abandoned after a crash in Sunderland.

The Alfa Romeo was found in Southwick after apparently crashing through a bus stop and crash barriers on Saturday evening, July 17.

Police say the driver left the area and they have now appealed for help in establishing exactly what happened.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 9pm on Saturday we received a report from a member of the public who had found a white Alfa Romeo car abandoned on Keir Hardie Way.

"The vehicle had collided with some bushes but the driver had left the area on foot and nobody was in the vehicle.

"No other vehicles are reported to have been involved and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"Anyone who has information that could assist police can report it online through the ‘Tell Us Something’ pages of our website quoting reference NP-20210717-1051.”
