A CRICKET Club has secured a £45,000 grant of Olympic legacy funding to improve its pitch.
Chester-le-Street Cricket Club will use the money from Sport England to upgrade and improve their playing surface.
The Ropery Lane club will use the money to level the outfield, which becomes water-logged and floods during heavy rain, causing training and matches to be cancelled.
The funding will also be used for the creation of a practice area. The new area will be used for the juniors and ladies teams.
The director of cricket at the club, Keith Robson, said: “The money would ensure the future well being of our cricket facility for the benefit of present and future players of all age groups.”
