The man behind 1980s kids TV show The Trap Door has died.

Terry Brain, from Bristol, lost his two-year fight with cancer aged 60 on Friday morning.

Along with fellow animator Charlie Mills, he was also behind Stoppit and Tidyup and also worked on the Wallace and Gromit films and Chicken Run.

The Trap Door is one of the most recognised family entertainment shows of the 1980s.

The plot revolves around the daily lives and the misadventures of a group of monsters living in a castle.
