FESTIVAL fans can have their own lightbulb moment as they design their own version of artworks.
An app is giving fans of Lumiere, which will return to Durham for the third time from Thursday, November 14, to Sunday, November 17, an opportunity to create their take on the installations lined up for the displays.
It has been put together by creative agency r//evolution marketing and can be used on PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets.
It lets people select from 70-plus images of Durham and Lumiere, add their own touches at a click or touch to a virtual 3D model of Durham Cathedral and select a soundtrack to go with it and then share it via their social networks.
It is the idea of Visit County Durham which secured funding for it with a grant through Arts Council England.
Melanie Sensicle, chief executive of Visit County Durham, said: “Anyone who has visited the event knows how spectacular and inspiring it is, and we hope that this new app will be a popular way for people to get involved and discover their inner artist.”
The app can be found at www.thisisdurham.com/VirtualLumiere.
