Court round-up: Theft, drunken behaviour and knife crime among cases dealt with in Sunderland

Lucas Jones, 20, of Hylton Road, Pennywell, admitted causing criminal damage to a skylight window, to the value of approximately £400, on October 8. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and was told to pay compensation of £15.

Sean Smith, 28, of Frenchmans Way, South Shields, admitted driving a Renault Clio otherwise than in accordance with a licence and without insurance, on Newmarket Walk, South Shields, on June 18. He was fined £120 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £85. His driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.

James Barnes, 29, of Trafalgar Road, Sulgrave, Washington, admitted possession of a Stanley knife in the Stadium of Light carpark, on August 9. He was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, with drug treatment for nine months, and 25 days’ specified activity. He was also told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £85 and costs of £85.

Laurence Charlton, 18, of Mowbray Road, Sunderland, caused criminal damage to a seat of a Vauxhall Zafira belonging to Forever Care, on October 4. He was told to pay compensation of £100 and costs of £50. He also admitted resisting a police officer, for which he was discharged conditionally for 12 months.

John Greenhow, 36, of Sherburn Grove, Burnside Estate, Houghton, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress, on August 19. He was fined £50 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £20 and costs of £50.

Gordon Kane, 29, of Sherburn Grove, Burnside Estate, Houghton, also admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress, on August 19. He was fined £140 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £60. He also admitted breaching a suspended prison sentence, for which he was fined £20.

Anthony Marsh, 27, of Holylake Square, Sunderland, was found guilty in absence, of being drunk and disorderly in Holmeside, Sunderland, on September 18. He was fined £90 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £80.

Colin Pearson, 36, of Deerness Road, Hendon, admitted assaulting a police officer. He was told to pay compensation of £75.

Connor Robbins, 18, of Ravenswood Square, Sunderland, admitted resisting a police officer on July 23. He was fined £200 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £85.

Ryan Hall, 22, of Wild Briar, Fatfield, Washington, admitted, being drunk and disorderly in Dunstanburgh Close, Washington, on October 22. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £20.
