FUND-RAISERS in Sunderland are gearing up for another Red Nose Day.
Staff at Sainsbury’s in Fulwell are already planning to do something funny for money on the day, March 18, and are urging others to do the same.
Store manager Peter Conwell said: “We’re already starting to plan our fund-raising activities and we’re really looking forward to our first fund-raiser on March 18.
“We hope our customers will enjoy and support the events we have planned, more of which we’ll be revealing soon.”
The supermarket is now selling all of the Comic Relief official merchandise, which includes an array of red noses including the new wind-up “runny nose” and the “nose that grows”.
For the second year running, customers can also make a donation to Red Nose Day as they shop through the “charity rounding” initiative.
This allows customers to round up their bill at the checkout – making it simple to donate any spare change.
Comic Relief spends all the money raised by the public to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa. One locally-based charity to benefit is St Benedict’s Hospice in Sunderland.
