SUNDERLAND City Council is one of seven being given extra Government cash.

Local Government minister Bob Neil confirmed this week a series of minor amendments to provisional settlements announced last month.

Sunderland, along with Bradford in Yorkshire, Aylesbury Vale in Buckinghamshire, Babergh in Suffolk, Mansfield in Nottinghamshire and Rossendale and Salford near Manchester, were given an extra “transitional grant” by the Government.

The scale of the spending cuts for the country as a whole was announced by George Osborne in October last year.
