Cooking up a rare treat

I took up this cooking lark about a year ago and I'm enjoying it.

I buy all my ingredients from Tesco in Roker Avenue. The other Sunday I made my own fruit crumble for the first time.

I used to buy those packets of crumble mix but I thought I would have a go at making my own. I am going to have a go at making a fruit loaf, brack loaf.

It’s one of those things you have to put hot tea in to make the sugar dissolve and the dried fruit to swell. It’s all in my notebook recipes and I have copied the instructions from the back of the packets of bread mixes and other mixes, so when I make bread from a packet instead of reading the back of the packets the instruction are all in my notebook to follow. There is one fruit cake that I have not made yet and that is an easy fruit cake.

I have also made rich biscuits, Victoria scones and fruit cake, not the easy fruit cake, that one I have yet to make.
