GARDENERS are being encouraged to show their flower beds some TLC by turning household waste into compost.

Durham County Council is supporting International Compost Awareness Week this week which is aimed at getting more people to understand the benefits of composting as a means of reducing waste and helping the environment. As part of the campaign to promote composting, the county council is working with to offer discounted compost bins.

The bins are priced from £19.98, with a £5.99 delivery charge, but people with larger gardens or those wishing to team up with a family member, friend or neighbour can take advantage of a ‘buy one, get one half price’ offer.
