A comedian who can’t talk will be using his unique style of humour to entertain audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe once again this August.

Lost Voice Guy, who has previously won the BBC New Comedy Award and has recently had a sitcom commissioned by BBC Radio Four, will be performing his new show Inspiration Porn.

The comic, real name Lee Ridley, a former Barbara Priestman pupil, will poke fun at becoming an unintentional porn star on the internet in memes and prove to you why he shouldn’t be your inspiration after all.

Inspiration Porn will be at The Stand Comedy Club Five on York Place in Edinburgh at 1.15pm from the 4th until the 27th of August (except Mondays).

Lee lost his speech as a baby when he developed cerebral palsy.

The 36-year-old, who won the BBC New Comedy Award in December 2014 and is currently writing a sitcom titled Ability for BBC Radio Four, said: “Inspirational memes seem to be everywhere these days. They say things like ‘the only disability in life is a bad attitude’. But I think that’s rubbish. For a start, being nice to the stairs in my flat hasn’t turned them into a ramp yet. No amount of positive thinking is going to help that blind man when he walks into a book shop. And if it really is the case that the only disability is a bad attitude, then why is Katie Hopkins still so healthy?”

“My show is an amusing true story of laughter, love and loss from a guy who struggles to live in a society that sees disabled people either as inspirational or as some sort of burden. In a world where Paralympic athletes are labelled as ‘super humans’, I ponder if I’m good enough. After all, what exactly is so super about walking like a zombie, sounding like a posh version of Robocop and literally not being able to use Siri.”

Lee recently supported Patrick Kielty on tour and has appeared on BBC’s The One Show and BBC Scotland’s sitcom, Scot Squad.
