The Color Run is coming back to Sunderland.
Thousands of people took part in last year’s event, which saw runners bombarded with multi-coloured paints on a course around the Stadium of Light.
Now organisers have announced the The Color Run will return on Sunday, September 20.
Overwhelming interest from Sunderland and the North East has seen another date added to the 2015 tour, after 30,000 ‘Color Runners’ took part in events in London and Manchester.
The 5km Color Run sees participants covered in bursts of coloured powder at each kilometre stage. It is not a timed event, so participants can take the course at their own pace.
After crossing the finish line, powdered partygoers join the Colour Festival Area to enjoy a great mix of DJs, MCs, the infamous ‘Color Throws’ plus a host of colour giveaways.
James Robinson, Managing Director of organisers IMG Challenger World said: “We’ve already kick started the summer with hugely popular events in London and Manchester.
“Adding this extra date to our The Color Run UK tour was a must-do after the incredible response we had from our Sunderland ‘Color Runners’ in 2014.”
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) is the official charity partner of The Color Run for 2015.
Participants can support the children’s charity when they sign up by donating straight to the charity or setting up a fundraising page once they have entered.
NSPCC director of fund-raising Paul Farthing said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be the official charity partner of The Color Run in 2015.
“By taking part in one of these fun, colourful events and raising money for the NSPCC, people will be joining our fight for every childhood, helping us protect children and prevent abuse here in the UK.”
This year’s event takes place at Commercial Road. Registration opens on August 5 and entrants can register their interest and sign-up to the VIP priority booking window now at www.TheColorRun.co.uk/Sunderland.
Event entries are priced at £26 for individuals and £24 p/person for group bookings (There is a £4.99 cost for postage and packaging of entry pack).
