College panto Puss in Boots is most successful yet

East Durham College’s creative industries department put on the panto Puss in Boots and it played to an audience totalling more than 2,000 as a hectic panto week came to an end last week.

Puss in Boots, put on by students from a number of different courses at the college’s Peterlee-based campus sold out all its performances across the week.

The department puts on a pantomime week every January, with this production being the most successful one to date.

Billy Nicholson, lecturer in creative industries at East Durham College, praised the dedication and hard work of the students over the past month, preparing for the show along with the work they put in on stage.

Billy said: “This has been a fantastic show with some great feedback from visitors over the past week.

“The whole team who took part in the show this year have been absolutely brilliant, I am really proud of the hard work and dedication they have put in to making this the best panto we have put on here at the college.

“We love putting on the panto as it gives the students a real insight to what it’s like to work in the industry and what it’s all about.

“And I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has come to see the show over the last week. The students loved performing to a packed house at every show.”
