A DERELICT college building has been hit by fire again.

The latest in a series of blazes started inside the sports hall of the former East Durham College building, in Peterlee, at 11.30pm on Sunday.

Waste had been set alight. Fire-fighters spent 20 minutes at the building, on the corner of Essington Way and Burnhope Way.

The site, sold following the launch of a new campus building off Willerby Grove, is earmarked for development as a Tesco Extra store.
