AN exhibition of artwork inspired by one of the region’s beauty spots is to launch tomorrow.
The pieces based on Holy Island and the North East coast will open at Durham World Heritage Centre in Owengate.
The show, entitled Illumination: More than the Sum of their Parts, is by Judith Hurst, who has used techniques of manuscript to capture the landscape and its relationship to history over many centuries.
The display will be open daily from 9.30am to 6pm.
Developed in collaboration with her husband John, it anticipates the visit by Lindisfarne Gospels to Durham’s Place Green Library next summer as part of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
