Clubber punched in bar attack

Have your say

A CLUBBER suffered head injuries when he was attacked during a night out at a popular city centre nightspot.

The 25-year-old was partying with pals at 7even bar, Derwent Street, when he was punched in the head as he stood next to the DJ booth.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where he was treated for head injuries.

His attacker fled 7even straight after the assault.

Police have launched a probe into the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Investigating officers believe there were people in the bar who may have seen what happened or the offender leave.

Acting Inspector Craig Briggs, of Sunderland Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We know there were a number of people in the area of the assault at the time it happened and think they will have seen what happened or the person who is responsible leave the bar straight after punching the victim.”

The attack took place on Sunday, February 27, at 3am. Police have only just released details of the incident.

Witnesses should phone police on 03456 043 043.
