Cliff plunge dog rescued by Sunderland firefighters

A pet dog had a lucky escape when she fell from cliffs in Sunderland today.

Firefighters called to incident at Ryhope, where a female border collie had suffered injuries in the fall.

The rope rescue team had to negotiate a 20 metre slope to reach the beach and locate the injured dog.

The team recovered the dog who was re-united her with her owner before she paid a visit to a Sunderland vet.
