Clean-up for A1 in Washington

Have your say

A SPRING clean has begun along the litter-strewn edges of the North East’s busiest road.

Grass verges at the sides of the A1, from Washington Services to Blaydon, are to be tidied up.

Clean-ups in previous years have resulted in 15 tonnes of rubbish being collected and this year’s drive is expected to take 10 staff up to two weeks to complete.

Sections of the A1 will be coned off, but all work will be done outside rush hours.
