Soup and roll lunch is available in All Saints’ parish hall today and every Tuesday from 11.45am until 1.15pm. There is a choice of homemade soup with a roll followed by tea or coffee with homemade cake – all for £3. The atmosphere is welcoming and everyone is invited to come whether you live in the village or are just passing through.

A coffee morning on Saturday from 10.30am until noon in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall, will be in aid of the Foundation of Light, the charity arm of Sunderland Football Club, which supports vulnerable and excluded children in the North East. There will be a raffle and a cake stall and plenty of coffee or tea with scones and biscuits. Come along and add your support to the work this charity does in the area.

Compass Acapella, the Cleadon based close harmony choir, is giving a concert on Saturday at 7pm in St Gabriel’s Church, High Barnes. Admission is by ticket only and the proceeds are in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society.

The annual parochial church meeting for All Saints’ Church will be held on Sunday at 4pm in the parish hall.

On Monday, the annual general meeting of Cleadon Village Association will take place in the Community Room on Front Street at 7.30pm. The purpose is to receive the year’s accounts and to elect officers and committee members for the coming year.

Cleadon Village History Society meets in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall, next Tuesday, April 26, at 7.15pm. Peter Hoy has already spoken about the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War, which ended in January 1916, and is returning to complete the story this month.

South Shields Community School Karate Club meets in the Community School on Nevinson Avenue on Mondays at 5pm until 6pm. They welcome all ages and abilities and anyone can come along or phone 07979538992 for more information.

T’ai Chi Qigong, a beginners’ calm movement class, meets on Wednesdays in All Saints’ parish hall from 10.45am until 11.45am. The class helps to improve breathing, balance and energy. All are welcome to go along, or phone 07891419006 for information.

The coffee pop-in is open each weekday from 10am until noon in the Old Schoolroom, next to the parish hall. A number of hot beverages are available with light snacks, a very warm welcome and someone to have a chat with. Come along and give it a try.
