Compass Acapella, the men’s close harmony choir based in Cleadon, joins forces with Tyneside Acapella, a ladies’ choir, to give a concert in All Saints’ parish hall tonight at 7.30pm. Tickets are still available at £5, which includes refreshments. Ring 5363346 for more details.

The coffee morning on Saturday from 10.30am until noon in All Saints’ parish hall will be in aid of church funds. There will be a bring-and-buy stall and a raffle, as well as plenty of coffee, tea, scones and biscuits, with time to chat and catch up with friends.

Beginning next Monday, April 11, Cleadon Village Drama Club is producing the Simon Mawdsley acclaimed comedy thriller Audacity, in the Little Theatre in Boldon Lane at 7.30pm each evening until Saturday, April 16. Tickets at £6 are available from the business manager on 447 0493.

New Cleadon WI meets on Monday at 7pm in Cleadon Methodist Church hall. Last month the members enjoyed a talk by Jane Dennison, who spoke about Josie’s Dragonfly Trust, which aims to brighten the lives of children and young people living with cancer. Afterwards they all tried their luck on an Easter tombola. This month the speaker will be Ingrid Kilner who will give a presentation about ‘A Year Behind the Veil’, and the competition will involve a scarf or shawl.

Cleadon WI meets next Tuesday, April 12, in All Saints’ parish hall at 6.30pm.

Compass Acapella, with guests Tyneside Acapella, will be singing at St Gabriel’s Church in High Barnes, Sunderland, on Saturday April 23, at 7pm. Entrance is by ticket only and proceeds are in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

A Dokan Karate Club meets in All Saints’ parish hall on Thursdays from 5pm for juniors and from 7pm for adults. Contact 07939 130411 for further information.

A Weight Watchers class meets on Mondays in Cleadon Village Primary Academy in Boldon Lane at 6.30pm. There is support and advice available to all who want to lose some weight before the summer season. Just go along to a class.

Lingo Kids is a new class for children to help them learn French or Spanish and develop communication skills and cultural awareness with confidence. Small classes grouped according to age engage in a variety of fun activities giving them a solid grounding for the future.
