City and Colour to help start Pink party

EXCITEMENT is building as the third support act for Pink's top tour is unveiled.

Toronto's finest export City and Colour has been hand-picked by the American superstar to help her get the party started along with VV Brown and Butch Walker, when she kicks off her tour in the city this June.

City and Colour has been kicking up a storm in its native Canada and its music is set to sweep across the UK as the band graces the carnival stage before Pink.

The band is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Dallas Green who, until a few years ago, made a name for himself as the frontman of post-hardcore band Alexisonfire.

But the talented musician decided he wanted to take his work in a different direction and during time off from tours, he put together a collection of folk-inspired songs he had been writing and launched his solo project, City and Colour.

In 2005, he released his debut Sometimes, which achieved platinum success and earned his two Juno awards in Canada.

His second album, Bring Me Your Love, peaked at number three in the Canadian charts and caught the attention of music fans in America, including Pink.

Already announced support acts are Northampton-born VV Brown, who was dubbed 2009's artist to watch by The Independent newspaper.

Brown proved herself to be one of the country's most promising female stars last year after an appearance at Glastonbury and a sell-out solo tour. She was also snapped up as the new face of Marks & Spencer.

Prolific producer Butch Walker will also be entertaining the crowd.

The Funhouse Summer Carnival lands at the Stadium of Light on June 11.
