Children's respite centre staff to travel in style thanks to new car donation

Kind bosses at a city dealership have donated a car to help staff at a Wearside children's respite centre stay on the move.

Town Centre Automobiles, based in Ferryboat Lane, is continuing to support Grace House by renewing their contract to supply a brand-new Citroen C3 Aircross SUV to the charity.

The firm has supported Grace House since August 2011 and have helped raise over £33,000.00 for the charity which has included donating two Citroen C1s to raffle.

Chris Sopp, Dealer Principal at TCA said: “As a Sunderland company we are pleased to be able to support a local charity helping local children with bespoke respite care.

Grace House offer short-break care to children and young people from all over the north east who have complex disabilities. 

In partnership with Sunderland Care and Support, the organisation provides a home from home where children and young people can come and stay overnight and enjoy the exciting ‘sleep-over’ experience that many children with additional needs may miss out on.

In addition to short breaks Grace House has expanded its services to offer support to parents by delivering free holistic therapies and counselling.

Therefore, providing support to the whole family.

Karen Maclennan, senior fundraiser at Grace House and primary driver of the vehicle, said: “It is wonderful that Town Centre Automobiles are continuing to support Grace House.

“The car looks brilliant fully branded with our Grace House logo on.

“The car, which is also used by the Grace House Care Team and volunteers, can be spotted driving around Sunderland and beyond.”

“The staff are always so friendly and Chris Sopp the dealer principal is always so enthusiastic and passionate about supporting Grace House too.”
