PARENTS are being advised to make sure their children have enough cash for their travel fare as ticket prices rise.

New child concessionary fares for under-16s come into force on Saturday, with child single and CAT tickets available with a Pop Card on buses and the Metro rising by 10p each.

The changes are the first in four years to the child concessionary fare, which is subsidised by Nexus using funds from councils across the region, and only available with an Under-16 Pop Card.

Non-Pop Card bus and Metro child fares, which are higher, are not affected by the changes.
