POP princess Cheryl Cole put in a surprise appearance at a school to congratulate pupils on their achievements.
Warm words of encouragement accompanied the chart-topper’s million-dollar smile when she stopped off at Oxclose Community School, in Washington, yesterday.
Students taking part in The Prince’s Trust courses were treated to a meet and greet with Cheryl, who works closely with the Trust after launching The Cheryl Cole Foundation to help disadvantaged youngsters from the region last year.
The Geordie singer then headed back to home turf, to greet fans queuing outside Northumberland Street’s HMV to catch a glimpse of her.
Hundreds of fans had gathered, some camping overnight, to secure a spot to see their idol up close.
Cheryl signed copies of her new album, A Million Lights, which shot to the top spot in the charts when it was released on Monday.
Her third album features collaborations with producers including Calvin Harris, Taio Cruz and manager Will.i.am.
