ORGANISERS of a new festival have raised their glasses to hail it a success.
Scores flocked to Ashbrooke Sports Ground for its inaugural Cider and Sausage Festival, which club bosses say they hope will become an annual fixture in its calendar.
The festival featured 10 types of sausage, including a specially-made Ashbrooke Banger, as well as 30 ciders and perriers, wine-tasting and folk music.
Club chairman Rob Deverson said: “The event was really popular on both Friday and Saturday, the room was full, we almost sold out of cider and we had to re-order sausages twice.
“We like to have recurring fixtures in the calendar, something people can look forward to, like the fireworks, Split and our beer festival, and we think this is something good for this time of year.”
He added: “We also saw a lot of new faces which is important as it helps people to realise we’re not a members-only club.”
