Charity’s plea for volunteers

Have your say

WEARSIDERS are being asked to spare a little time to help vulnerable children.

Barnardo’s North East is appealing for people to become fund-raising volunteers and help raise cash to support Barnardos’ projects across the city.

The role could involve placing collection boxes in the local community, getting involved with donations raised by schools, organising, or helping to organise events, or inspiring others about the charity’s work in the area.

Community fund-raising volunteer manager for the North East, Janice Heathcote, said: “Volunteering with Barnardo’s is a great way to meet new people and help others at the same time.

“By giving us a little of your spare time, you can also gain invaluable experience that could provide a stepping stone to a new career, or add to your personal statement for college or university.

“It’s an opportunity to have some fun by joining the local Barnardo’s team in your area.”
