Wearsiders are being encouraged to celebrate National Mackem Day next month.
The celebration, which is set to be held on Friday, August 12, will see a special launch night for the second edition of the Mackem Dictionary at The Royalty Theatre, in Chester Road, close to Sunderland City Centre.
Organiers say the event will celebrate all that is great about Sunderland.
The show will have author Paul Swinney explaining his inspiration for the dictionary and the true stories behind it.
And it’ll have special guest performances from top Mackem musicians Barry Hyde from The Futureheads and The Lake Poets.
All attendeing will be given a free signed copy of the second edition of the dictionary, worth £5, a sample of the Sunderland dish panackelty, some sarsaparilla sweets while Wearside-brewed Double Maxim will be flowing behind the bar too.
Tickets are on sale for £10 per person.
The event begins at 7.30pm.
