A CAT lover has helped the charity who cared for his rescue pet to repay them for their kindness.
Peter Harrison, from Durham, took on Autumn from the RSPCA’s Felledge Animal Centre, near Chester-le-Street, in January,
Now he has donated the £154 he raised through sponsorship to the centre after running the Amsterdam Marathon, completing it in three hours and 23 minutes.
Peter said: “I was hoping to do it in less than three and half hours so I am really pleased.
“The last few kilometres were very tough, but I managed to keep running all the way around.
“It’s a great job that the guys at Felledge do, rehoming animals.
“I just wanted to do a bit to help them out, and help raise awareness of them in the area, especially for people who might be looking for a new pet as I think they should be the first port of call.”
The RSPCA has highlighted his efforts as part of its Everyday Heroes campaign to recognise those who support its work.
