Castle seen in new light

A POPULAR landmark will be seen in a whole new light under new refurbishment plans.

Durham County Council members have given the go-ahead to replace the lighting outside Durham Castle. It is hoped the project will provide a better “lighting context” and cut carbon emissions. Twenty-two lights will be replaced with 82 energy-saving lamps placed at key points around the attraction. The scheme is now expected to be approved by the council’s planning committee.
