Care home’s retro day

A CARE home will show why it rocks on Friday.

As part of an open day, North View Lodge, Castletown, is holding a 60s and 70s theme event.

The day, which all members of the public can attend, will aim to show people what the home has to offer.

Carer Jackie Thornton said staff also want to raise awareness of the specialist mental health issues they deal with. “What we want to do is show people what care is given here,” she said.

“We do a lot of specialist work with people with head injuries, and challenging behaviour.”

The home, which cares for people between the ages of 25 and 70, will play host to a jukebox, American Cadillac car.

There will also be stalls with raffles and tombola which include prizes from Sunderland AFC.

The Red Cross, St John Ambulance and representatives from the Army are also expected to be on site to put on displays and give out information on what they do.

Staff and residents will dress up for the fun day, which will run from 10am to 4pm.
