Care home praised for treating people with dignity and respect

Murton Grange was rated as “good” overall by inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Swanton-run home was said to be a place where people were “treated with dignity and respect” and had a “positive culture”.

The facility, in Knaresborough Road, Murton, provides care and accommodation for up to 10 people with a learning disability, autistic spectrum disorder, and associated complex needs.

The CQC said each of its five inspection criteria – is the service safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led – were rated as “good”, making the home fully compliant with the regulator.

The unannounced inspection which took place in November last year, included feedback from family members.

“We’re immensely proud of the warm, friendly atmosphere we have created at Murton Grange, and it’s fantastic that the inspection report reflects that,” manager Denise Willis said. “Our team is dedicated to the support of our service users and we always do everything we can to ensure the care we provide is truly personalised and empowering.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to all our families for their wonderful feedback, it’s great to hear.”

Service users at Murton Grange are able to enjoy cycling, a disco for people with learning disabilities, swimming and leisure facilities, and visits to pubs and shops –and the high quality of activities offered to residents was highlighted in the report, after the unannounced inspection visit in November.
