A CARE home got a spruce-up thanks to generous staff from a housing firm.

When Finchley House care home, in Roker – ran by national social care charity Community Integrated Care – approached Four Housing Group, the parent body of Three Rivers Housing Association and Berwick Borough Housing, for help with decorating the home, staff jumped at the chance to offer their services.

Dulux Decorator Centre, in Sunderland donated paint and brushes, to do the job.

Peter Morgan, senior supported housing officer at Three Rivers Housing Association, said: “It’s great to give a little of our time to such a good cause.”

The work was carried out by six members of the Three Rivers team – Samantha Devlin, Kate Thompson, Gareth Heslington, Damian Wilkinson, Peter Teasdale and Peter Morgan.

They volunteered to get involved in the community project and provide their painting skills to redecorate the home.

Rachel Mein, service manager for community integrated care in Sunderland, said: “The residents and staff at Finchley House are delighted with their freshly painted lounge and dining room.

“We would like to thank the Three Rivers team and are grateful for the contribution they each made.”
