THIEVES stole a ticket machine after using a saw to cut down a pole.

Police in Chester-le-Street are appealing for information after the machine was taken from one of the town’s car parks.

It was taken from the car park at the back of the Black Horse Inn between 7pm on Wednesday and 5.30am the following day.

Pc Katrina Joyce, who is investigating the incident, said: “It appears that someone has used a Stihl saw or similar to cut through the pole supporting the machine which was located in a car park at the rear of Front Street behind the pub and then made off with it.

“I would urge anyone who saw or heard anything that night, or in the early hours of the morning, that could help with our inquiries to contact us.”
