A WOMAN’S car overturned when she swerved to avoid an object on the A19.
The accident happened on the northbound carriageway of the busy road between Murton and Seaton.
The Vauxhall Insignia was left on its roof. The driver, who is in her 30s, was rescued by firefighters and put on to a stretcher.
She was taken to Sunderland Royal for a check up.
The outside lane of the carriageway was closed during the clear-up operation.
It is not known what object was on the road, causing the accident at about 10.30am on Friday.
