FIREBUGS set a car ablaze in Sunderland.

Firefighters were called to Castletown Road at 2.20am on Saturday to deal with a Vauxhall Corsa that was on fire.

A crew from Sunderland Central station put the blaze out, but the car was destroyed.

Police say they are investigating the cause of the fire and suspect it is arson. Meanwhile, two sheds were destroyed in a blaze in an unused allotment in Hawthorn Street, Easington Colliery, at 7.30am on Saturday.
