Cancer charity in volunteer appeal

Volunteers are wanted to help raise funds for a cancer charity.

Liz Airey, local fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, is encouraging Peterlee residents to help out at the charity’s collection day in Castle Dene Shopping Centre on Saturday, October 3.

Liz said: “We are looking to expand our volunteer base in the area so that we can reach out to even more people that need our help.”

She added: “There are so many ways to get involved in volunteering for Macmillan Cancer Support; collecting being one of them but we are also looking for people who would like to help out at events, attend cheque presentations, becoming a Macmillan speaker, joining a fundraising group plus much more.”
