Can you help a community group meet its appeal target?

Have your say

A CAMPAIGN is hoping festive cheer will be able to help it get its appeal in the can.

The East Durham Trust is running its Million Can Challenge as part of a fund-raising and recycling project and hopes people will be able to add to the total so far with cans they donate.

Cash raised will be invested in community groups and other projects.

Several initiatives have already benefited from cash raised through the challenge including Shotton Youth Group, Macmillan, Haswell and District Mencap Sensory Garden Project, Bradley Lowery’s Fight, Stonham’s Physical Activity Fund and helped support Jordan Williams, who is entering the Thai Boxing World Championships.

The trust’s chief executive Malcolm Fallow said: “It has been tremendous to see the community respond to this campaign and we are sure with one final push we can reach the target.

“Of course, the real benefit here has been the commitment to improving the local environment, whilst also raising much-needed funds for local charities.”
